Country music star Danny Gokey has married his fiancee at an intimate ceremony in Florida over the weekend.

The former American Idol star wed model Leyicet Peralta in front of close family and friends on Sunday.

In a statement, released to People, the happy couple says, "We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together. We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now.

"We wanted a smaller, more intimate wedding of just friends and family. The theme of the wedding was romance and love."

Gokey's first wife, Sophia, died during heart surgery back in 2008 and he remembered her on his big day by asking all guests to donate to his charity, Sophia's Heart, which was set up in her honor.
