Vehle’s Rail Repair Bill Passes Committee

Vehle’s Rail Repair Bill Passes Committee

State Senator Mike Vehle of Mitchell is proposing a bill which would provide six million dollars in state money to rehabilitate state-owned railroad lines in western South Dakota.  A rehabilitation of rail line between Mitchell and Chamberlain was finished in 2012 for 28 million dollars.  That would be extended out to Reliance.  Vehle, who is chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, says this is another part of economic development in the state.

Vehle’s bill, Senate Bill 137, passed the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously last week.
