Sioux Falls Woman’s Death Ruled A Homicide

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The brother of a Sioux Falls woman whose death has been ruled a homicide says she was found dead in her bathtub with the water running.

Brian Johnson says the Sunday death of 56-year-old Kari Ann Kirkegaard initially was thought to be an accident, but then relatives noticed her purse was missing.

Investigators have said Kirkegaard’s bedding also is missing from the home where she lived alone, and they’ve asked Sioux Falls residents to check their garbage containers for unusual items and to call police should they find anything suspicious.

Police have no suspects, though they say an area business’s security camera shows a “person of interest” they would like to talk to.

Authorities say they don’t believe the community is in danger.
