Salem Native Killed In Crash In Minnesota

A Salem native was killed on Monday when her bicycle pulling a trailer with her two children inside collided with a pickup on a highway just north of Steen in southwestern Minnesota.

33-year old Andrea Boeve, whose maiden name is Andrea Roth, died in the crash. Her two children were hospitalized in Luverne, Minnesota, suffering injuries that are not life-threatening.

The pickup with which she collided was driven by 25-year old Christopher Weber of Brandon. Weber was unhurt and was charged with suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.

Authorities are looking into whether Weber was distracted by his cellphone before he hit the bicycle.

Boeve was wearing a helmet and was riding on the highway legally before the accident, which occurred just before noon on Monday.
