Representatives of Pipestone System, which manages the Jackrabbit Farms hog facility, discussed odor coming from the farm at Tuesday’s Davison County Commission meeting.  Neighbors of Jackrabbit Farms, located just south of Mount Vernon, have complained about the smells coming from the hog farm.  Sean Simpson, general counsel for Pipestone System, says his company has done everything that has been asked of it, including adding biofilters to reduce the odor.  Officials believe the facility is operating at an efficiency rate of 80 to 90 percent.  They added that it will never be 100 percent efficient.  Neighbors believe Jackrabbit Farms can do a better job of cutting down on the odor.  It was only a discussion item on the agenda, and no action was taken.
