Mount Rushmore And Badlands Visitor Numbers Up


MT. RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) — The Black Hills and Badlands Tourism Association says that figures for April show an increase in visitors to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Badlands National Park.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial saw an increase of 16.9 percent from April 2013, and visitation was up 20.7 percent in Badlands National Park.

The organization says that Black Hills area hotels and motels also fared well in April. Occupancy rates were up 5.9 percent and revenue rose 12.7 percent from last April.

The area did experience a 5.5 percent drop in taxable sales from the same month last year.
