Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on Tuesday night for a new Avera Queen of Peace health care complex located just south of I-90 and west of Cabela’s.  Completion of the building is expected in early 2016.

Avera CEO Tom Clark says the new facility will house many of the doctors who are now practicing in Mitchell along with new physicians.  Clark added that the face of health care in general has changed, and the new facility will address some of those needs.

The plan is to eventually have the entire Queen of Peace campus, including a new hospital, located south of I-90.  Avera Queen of Peace Board of Directors Chairperson Terry Torgerson says the plans for the project were formulated over several years.

The total investment in the new complex is estimated at 18 million dollars, which includes both the three-story building and the land.
