Daugaard Leads Fundraising In Gubernatorial Race.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has amassed more than $1.6 million in his re-election campaign account heading toward the June 3 primary, far exceeding his Republican challenger and two Democratic hopefuls.

Daugaard raised more than $272,000 during the month and a half ending in mid-May with the majority coming from individual contributions. He spent $348,000.

GOP challenger Lora Hubbel raised about $20,000 during the period, all in individual contributions. The ending balance of the former state lawmaker from Sioux Falls was about $2,200.

The Democratic primary will feature Joe Lowe, the former head of the state wildfire agency, and state Rep. Susan Wismer, of Britton.
Lowe collected nearly $33,000 in contributions and spent $17,600. Wismer took in about $18,000 in individual contributions and $3,880 from in-state PACs. She spent $10.
