Everyone is taking the Ice Bucket Challenge

Politicians, celebrities, and – probably some of your Facebook friends – are getting soaked for a good cause. The #IceBucketChallenge, launched by the ALS Foundation to raise money for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), has raised a whopping $4 million so far. That’s a nearly threefold increase over the same donation period last year, the ALS Association said. It has added more than 70,000 new donors to its ranks, thanks to the popularity of the challenge, which requires participants to nominate someone else to complete the challenge. A search of #IceBucketChallenge on social media platforms like Twitter and YouTube bring up thousands of entries. Here are a few of our favorites:

Testimony from AEG Live executive Paul Gongaware on his interactions with Jackson and his negotiations with the singer’s doctor dominated the fifth week of a civil case against the company filed by the superstar’s mother, Katherine. On Tuesday May 28, 2013, Gongaware reluctantly acknowledged that he negotiated the $150,000 per month rate that Jackson’s doctor expected to be paid to serve on the “This Is It” tour.
