Mitchell Sets Low Temperature Record

Mitchell broke a temperature record for December 7th on Saturday.  The National Weather Service says the low temperature of 18 degrees below zero easily surpassed the previous low of 12 below zero set in 1908.  Low temperatures across the state on Saturday ranged from 27 below zero in Aberdeen to 23 below in Watertown to twenty below zero in Huron and Mobridge.  The low temperature in the nation on Saturday was 42 below zero in Chinook, Montana, but that was not a record setter, the record there for December 7th being 45 degrees below zero in 1927.
