Mitchell Planning And Zoning Commission Discusses Electric Cars

Zoning for electric car charging stations was on Monday’s Mitchell Planning and Zoning Commission agenda.  City Planner Neil Putnam says he received a phone call from a company that makes electric cars inquiring about possibly installing charging stations in South Dakota, possibly on Interstate 90.  There is nothing in Mitchell’s zoning code regarding such stations.  Putnam says research will have to be done on the technology of electric cars as well as their charging stations.  There are about 6,000 public car charging stations across the country.
