Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary Recognized As Blue Ribbon School

Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary School in Mitchell has been recognized as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School.  US Education Secretary Arne Duncan today announced 286 schools as blue ribbon schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in improving student academic achievement.  A recognition ceremony will be held November 18th and 19th in Washington D.C.  The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of achievement.  Gertie Belle Rogers is one of four schools in South Dakota recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.  Schools in Pierre, Sioux Falls, and Faulkton also made the list.
