Wagner Man Charged With Assaulting Girlfriend

A Wagner man has been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend.  18-year old Joseph Hartley is charged with aggravated assault.

At about 2:00 on Saturday morning, the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a disturbance at a residence at Wagner.  An unconscious female was discovered in the residence. The 19-year old female showed signs of strangulation, human bite marks and bruising. She was taken by ambulance to the Wagner Community Hospital and was later air evacuated to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld for privacy  Joseph Hartley faces a possible 15 years in prison on the charge.

The investigation continues by the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the SD Division of Criminal Investigation.
