Two Letcher Men Indicted On Tax Charges

Two Letcher men have been indicted on several charges for failing to file tax returns.  66 year old Ted Nelson and his son, 43 year old Steven Nelson, face charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States and impeding the IRS.  Ted Nelson also faces three counts of failure to file tax returns, while Steven Nelson is charged with four counts of failure to file tax returns.  The two men appeared before Judge John Simko last Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges.  Both men face maximum sentences of 10 to 12 years in prison and fines of nearly 300,000 dollars.  Trial has been set for September 10th.
