Police believe a shot that was fired and struck a house on Friday night in Mitchell was accidental. The bullet, which came from a high-powered rifle, struck a home on Chalkstone Drive in northeast Mitchell belonging to Richard and Sheri VanOverschelde. The bullet pierced the window of the house. There were people at home when the bullet hit. Authorities believe the shot was not intentional and came from someone shooting from the north of town toward the south. The incident remains under investigation.
The measure passed in both chamber of the South Dakota Legislature.
The senior senator will speak to a high school class and tour a couple of locations.
Signed petitions must be returned by the end of March.
The court will determine whether residents are eligible for tax subsidies to cost health insurance premium costs.
