Representative Stace Nelson Forms Exploratory Committee

Representative Stace Nelson of Fulton has formed an exploratory committee to look into a possible US Senate run in 2014.  Nelson says this move was prompted, in part, by an article in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.  Nelson says he will do what he feels is best for South Dakotans.  He says the exploratory committee process will get the word out about his possible candidacy.  Nelson says he will make his decision in the next few weeks.  He would be the fourth Republican vying for the US Senate seat currently held by Tim Johnson, who is not seeking re-election.  Former Governor Mike Rounds, State Senator Larry Rhoden, and Sioux Falls physician Annette Bosworth have all announced their candidacies.  On the Democrat side, former Tom Daschle staffer Rick Weiland is the only announced candidate.
