Mitchell VFW Holds Meeting To Discuss Building Options

About 25 people attended a meeting called by the Mitchell VFW commander to discuss the VFW building situation.  The VFW has been closed since mid-May while city officials decide how to best proceed in the demolition of the adjoining building which once housed the Longhorn Bar.  A shared wall between the two buildings is not salvageable.  Commander Pat Ziegler says the goal is to get the VFW back open as soon as possible, meaning the wall will likely be rebuilt.  He says there will be discussions about who will pay for the wall.  Ziegler says a fund raiser for the VFW is being planned.
