Mitchell Man Sentenced For Possessing Firearm While A Felon

A Mitchell man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for possessing a firearm while a felon.  53-year-old Lonnie Dean Hunter was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm.  His sentence must be followed by one year of supervised release.  Prosecutors say that on December 3, 2011, Hunter possessed a bolt-action rifle.  He is prohibited from possessing firearms because he was previously convicted of a felony.
