Mitchell City Administrator Vote Could Come This Month

A Mitchell City Council vote on adding a city administrator may come this month.  The administrator would act as a chief operating officer, overseeing the department heads.  The administrator would be accountable to the mayor.  The council discussed the issue last night.  It is hoped that a city administrator could improve efficiency in city business.  Over twenty cities in South Dakota have a city manager or administrator.  Mitchell residents voted against a city manager form of government in 2011.

The issue is expected to be voted on at the next council meeting on December 16th.
