Longhorn Bar Demolition Hits Snag

Longhorn Bar Demolition Hits Snag

Mitchell Public Works Director Tim McGannon says it was anticipated – the demolition of the former Longhorn Bar building has hit a slight snag.  A shared wall between the building and the Mitchell VFW will have to be torn down. The wall is in danger of collapsing, and officials are trying to figure out how to deal with it so the building won’t collapse and bring part of the VFW building down as well.  The VFW building has been closed since the demolition process began on Tuesday.  McGannon says a structural engineer was brought in to look over the project.  The engineer gave a good report, saying everything regarding the demolition has been done properly thus far.  McGannon says depending on the weather, the building should still be torn down in the next few days.
