Escaped Inmate Apprehended In Mitchell

Authorities in Mitchell have apprehended an inmate who walked away from a minimum-security unit at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.

Corrections officials say 19-year-old Davis Bull Bear walked away Tuesday night and was caught Wednesday morning.  Bull Bear was initially spotted in Hanson County.  Shortly after, he was spotted on I-90 near Mitchell.  Bull Bear fled toward Mitchell.  A perimeter was set up near DWU.  A KOOL 98 listener’s son spotted Bull Bear hiding in his backyard.  Bull Bear was apprehended near Mitchell Blvd.

He is serving a five-year sentence on a burglary conviction in Bennett County.
