Deadwood Casino Gambling Up In June

DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — Gambling in Deadwood casinos was up in June compared with a year earlier.

The South Dakota Gaming Commission reports that the amount wagered in June was nearly $95.6 million, down from about $101 million a month earlier but up from $94.3 million in June a year ago.

Tom Nelson, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association, says that increased bet limits helped boost overall revenue in casinos. The bet limit increased from $100 to $1,000 on July 1, 2012.
