Davison County Drainage Ordinance Discussed

Drainage was the main topic at Tuesday’s Davison County Commission meeting, as local farmers expressed their opinions during the first reading of a new drainage ordinance for Davison County.  One major change would give landowners with vested drainage rights permission to do maintenance work on ditches without notifying their neighboring landowners.  Vested drainage rights are rights acquired before July of 1985.  Landowners also do not have to notify others when repairing county coordinated ditch projects.  A second reading and final approval of the new drainage ordinance is expected to be on the next Davison County Commission agenda on Tuesday.
