Corn Palace Renovation Plan On City Council Agenda

A plan to renovate and expand the Corn Palace is on Monday’s Mitchell City Council agenda.  The plan was unveiled at the July 2nd city council meeting.  Changes would be made to the exterior and interior of the Corn Palace, as well as to the adjoining space which is currently Mitchell’s City Hall.  A new city hall building is in the planning stages several blocks south of the Corn Palace.  The 7.1 million dollar renovation project would be done in two phases over the next several years.  Several renovation and expansion plans for the tourist attraction have been presented over the past three years, with each one scaled down from the previous one.  Monday’s meeting begins at 7:30 at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.
