City Not Likely To Hire Professional Fundraiser For Corn Palace Renovation

At Monday night’s Mitchell City Council meeting, a discussion was held regarding hiring a professional fundraiser for the Corn Palace renovation project.  Jacki Miskimins, Director of the Mitchell Convention and Visitors Bureau, recommended that the city not hire a professional fundraiser.  She says certain projects call for that hiring; however, this is not one of them.  Miskimins says there are local residents who have ties to people who may be potential donors to the project.  She also recommended that the Corn Palace renovation project and the Mitchell Streetscape project not be combined for fundraising purposes.  A committee will likely be formed to oversee fundraising efforts for the Corn Palace renovation project.
