City Council To Meet Monday Night

The Mitchell City Council tonight will discuss a new recreation center and whether a consultant should be hired for that project.  The city has been considering partnering with Avera to build a new wellness center.  A consultant for the project would cost about 25,000 dollars, and Avera would split that cost with the city.  Also on tonight’s agenda is public input on a proposal to add a city administrator.  Six South Dakota cities employ a city manager, while sixteen cities in the state have a city administrator.  Mitchell currently has a part-time mayor.  Tonight’s council meeting begins at 7:30 at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.  The Sidewalk Committee meets at 7 pm and the Finance Committee meets at 7:20 tonight.
