City Council To Discuss Mitchell Government

The Mitchell City Council meets Monday night at 7:30 at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.  Tonight’s agenda includes a discussion on the organizational structure for Mitchell’s city government.  The current structure is a part-time mayor and city council.  In 2011, Mitchell voters defeated a proposal that would have added a city manager.  Also on the agenda is a discussion on the future of the Mitchell Rec Center.  There have been talks about expanding the current center or possibly building a new one.  The council will also vote on whether to authorize the purchase agreement for the Mitchell VFW and will hear a report on the 2013 Corn Palace Festival.  Prior to the regular council meeting, The Public Works Committee will meet at 7 pm and the Finance Committee will meet at 7:20.
