City Council Approves Purchase Of VFW Building

The Mitchell City Council on Tuesday night approved the purchase of the VFW building for 175,000 dollars.  The vote was 7-1, with Dan Allen voting against the purchase.  Now the VFW membership has to approve the city’s offer.  A 2/3 majority vote is needed.  VFW Commander Pat Ziegler says a meeting and vote will be held on September 10th.  The price tag on the VFW purchase and demolition, as well as the Longhorn Bar building purchase and demolition could reach up to 500,000 dollars.
