Car Accident Sends Two To Hospital

A car accident in Mitchell on Wednesday morning left two people hospitalized.  Just before 10:00 am at the intersection of Norway and Burr, a Chevy Cavalier driven by 78 year old Betty Deurmier of Mitchell turned in front of and collided with a Pontiac Grand Am driven by 35 year old Stephanie Swenson of Sioux Falls.  Betty Deurmier was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious head injuries.  Her husband, 77 year old Keith Deurmier, was taken to Avera Queen of Peace in Mitchell with serious but not life-threatening injuries.  The Deurmiers were not wearing seat belts.  Swenson was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.  Traffic citations are pending.
