Governor Dennis Daugaard has proclaimed Friday, April 19, as “A Day of Remembrance” in observance of the 20th anniversary of the state plane crash that took the lives of eight South Dakotans, including Governor George S. Mickelson. The men were returning from Cincinnati where they had traveled in an ultimately successful effort to save the John Morrelll packing plant in Sioux Falls.

The measure to authorize the Keystone pipeline fell one vote short of passage in the Senate.
The checks are a result of an early morning fire at a building that stores chemicals.
