CLOSING AGS 8/29/13

LIVESTOCK

Cattle: Cash cattle last week $123.00-125.00; Nebraska $197.00-$198.00 dressed; boxed beef lower on light movement; futures dragging along again waiting for the live trade; mixed, low volume trade no surprise; retail demand featuring mostly BBQ’ing.

Hogs: Interior hogs mixed; pork midday cut outs slightly higher; futures strongly higher on light technical buying, the discount to the live/lean index; hopes for end of summer pork demand.

GRAINS & OILSEEDS:

Corn: Soybeans: Wheat: Corn and beans very choppy and thin with 1) liquidating spot Sept. contracts ahead of deliveries, 2) uncertain weather forecasts; 3) little new in weekly export sales. Wheat more consistent, that is under pressure most of the day on apparent long liquidation.
