CLOSING AGS 1/27/14
CLOSING AGS 1/27/14

Cattle: Cash cattle this week: $147.150.00. On 50 boxed loads cut outs up. $1.05(c) to up. $2.37(s) on light midday movement.

Comments: Choppy trade but the market held relatively well. Part of that the discount to the live and part of that the resurrection of the beef market. Showlists estimates up 22,000hd. Neb.,up modestly Tx. & Ks.

Hogs: Interior hogs, Not/Est. (W), dn. $.66 (E);Pork cut outs rose $.47, primal cuts mostly quiet.

Comments: Again, the Feb. needs to maintain some sanity to the lean index, much less to the interior markets. As such, April free to roam higher again on technical buying and finally took out its Dec. high of $94.22.

GRAINS & OILSEEDS:

Corn: Soybeans: Wheat: One would think it was a holiday market in all three pits. Corn two-sided with apparent underlying support off recent export demand and cold weather feed increases; wheat two-sided as the threat of winter kill subsided, though March dropped to what had been demand price levels. And the beans, meandering both sides of steady but later session corn’s rebound aided meal which aided beans; overnight sales was new crop; maybe some support off a high export shipment number.
