    Free Concerts at the Saterlie Bandstand in Hitchcock Park on Wednesday July 8, starting at 7:30PM.
    The theme for this week’s program is: “A Tribute to the Beatles” The program will include a variety of musical styles: Marches,  Overtures, Broadway & Movie Hits, Beatle favorites, Special features.
    Featured soloists & groups include: Melissa Spitzer-Piccolo, Mike Catalano-Tuba, Brianna Sejnoha & Paul Mah- Vocalists, Nicole & Tanner Fuhrer-Vocalists, & The Palace City Brass playing music of the Beatles.
    The Park Dept. sprays the entire concert area prior to each weekly program, so bring a lawn chair and enjoy.
    In case of rain concerts are held at Firesteel Health Care Center. Please bring your lawn chair into the Care Center.

    The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village 30th Annual Archeology Awareness Days

    The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is holding its annual Archeology Awareness Days on July 11th and 12th, 2015. This year will be the 30th year this prestigious event has been held. Archaeologists and primitive technologists from around the United States will give presentations at the event throughout the day. Among the presenters will be Rick Hamilton, a noted primitive technologist, and Joe Tiffany, from the Iowa State Archaeology Department.

    There will be pottery making exhibits, long bow demonstrations (visitors will get to try their hand at shooting a long bow), and spear throwing lessons. Flint knapping and other primitive skills will be shown.

    Archaeologists will be present; students from the University of Exeter will be continuing to excavate the site during the weekend event. This year’s dig season is one of the most exciting seasons. Many spectacular artifacts and features have been found, such as a fine knife, a biface tool and several bone tools.

    Ice cream, pop and sandwiches will be available at the event, also.

    There will be the usual admission charge ($4 to $6) for this event. Hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.

    This is our annual summer Appreciation Day, The day begins with a poker run, 11am sign up with run beginning at 12 noon, $20pr hand with 50% pay back. Then at 5:30pm a pork loin supper will be served with potato salad, baked beans, chips, dessert, and lemonade free will offering. At 6:30pm will be the pie auction with proceeds going to the Fedora Presbyterian Church always a fun event with spirited bidding and going to a good cause, always lots of delicious pies, and other goodies sold.
