    The Mitchell Skating Academy is one of Mitchell’s newest opportunities for children, youth and families in the Mitchell area. Mitchell Skating Academy was formed in the spring of 2014 by a group of parents who were inspired by their children’s love of skating. As a member of United States Figure Skating Association, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating, we are of committed to promoting excellence in figure skating through quality coaching, practice and classes. Our program offers basic skills instruction as well as specialized classes in ice dance, choreography and performance, adult skating – even therapeutic skating for individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Mitchell Show Choir Classic

    On Saturday, March 21st, 2015, the annual show choir classic will be held at the World’s Only Corn Palace.
    Daytime Preliminary round begins at 8:00am, with doors opening at 7:30am. Groups from five different states will be competing. Evening Finals begin at 6:30pm, doors open one hour prior.
    Cost for the event is as follows: All Day Adults- $15.00, K-12- $12.00.

    Finals Only Adults- $10.00 K-12- $8.00

    Mitchell Show Choir Dinner Theatre

    Friend De Coup will have their annual DinnerTheatre at 6:30pm on March 24th, 26th, and 27th, and at 5:00pm on March 28th at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
    Tickets cost $22.00 ($20.00 on Tuesday) and will be available for purchase at the Corn Palace Box Office from 8:00am-5:00pm starting February 18th. They can also be purchased online at www.cornpalace.com or by calling 605-995-8430.

    Mitchell Area Optimist Bowling

    The Mitchell Area Optimist Club will be sponsoring a free family bowling night on Friday, March 27th from 5:30-8pm at The Village Bowl in Mitchell. This event is open to K-5th grade students and their families.
    Includes two games of bowling, show rental, 2 slices of pizza, soda, and Culver’s custard.
    Cost is FREE.  The Club will be collecting donations of peanut butter and jelly to go to the weekend snack pack program.  (Remember, these jars will be packed into bags for kids, so the smaller ones work better. Thanks!)

    Night at the Races

    Saturday March 28th, there will be a social hour with horse races to follow from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Highland Conference Center in Mitchell.
    Appetizers, Race betting, hat contests and auctions will be included. Tickets are available at County Fair and First Dakota, with prices set at $35.00.
