First Lutheran Church Women will be hosting their annual Fall Luncheon and Bake Sale on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Lutheran Church located on the corner of Fifth and Sanborn. They will be serving bowls of Creamy Tomato and Chicken Noodle Soup, Barbecues and Ham Salad Sandwiches, and slices of pie (many varieties) at a cost of $3 each, or a cup of soup for $2.50. A bake sale is also being sponsored at the same location with a variety of breads, cakes, cookies, and other items. Proceeds will benefit the First Lutheran Church website.

The 6th Annual Mt. Vernon Wild Game Feed, to benefit their local youth wrestling club, will be this Saturday at the old gym in downtown Mt. Vernon. If you’re interested in bringing a dish, please do so by 6:15pm as the event kicks off at 6:30p. This family fun event offers free will donation, lots of raffle prizes, a haunted house for the kids, and trophies for the winning wild game and dessert dishes.

A Caregivers Support Group was established so individuals who provide care for a spouse, family member, or other loved one can meet with other caregivers for fellowship and to share ideas and provide emotional support for one another. Meetings are held once a month at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospitality House at 600 East 6th Avenue in Mitchell.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 2 p.m. Tana Slykhuis from Home Instead will discuss care for people with dementia and the home services they offer. Brandi Neugebauer, Social Services Coordinator at Avera Brady, facilitates the group.
Refreshments will be served and there will be time for socializing and discussion. Those attending are asked to please park on the north side of the Hospitality House.
